Volunteer Opportunities - Committee Volunteers

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Community Toolbox. They are how we get the job done, how we serve as many people as possible to further our mission. It is through their generosity and dedication that we can do what we do.

If you believe in neighbors helping neighbors, that everyone deserves a safe and healthy home, that sometimes people just need a helping hand and a little compassion – we need you on our team. There are many ways you can help. Some of our volunteers are skilled carpenters; some are born leaders, while others just have good hearts and willing hands. The common thread is the desire to give back to the community. By donating your time, you can make a difference in the lives of families in our local community!

Calling Clients

These work groups do the behind-the-scenes work processing client requests, networking and creating partnerships with local vendors who provide much-needed supplies, raising funds, advocating within the community and more. Although Fix-It is what comes to most people’s minds when considering supporting Community Toolbox, there is much work that needs to be done behind the scenes before, during and after helping our neighbors by improving their homes. Committee volunteers provide much needed support in the areas of volunteer management, fundraising, site evaluation, client advocacy and more. If you have a skill set that fits one of these teams, please contact the committee chairs listed for more information.

Board of Directors
Our all-volunteer Board of Directors represents a variety of experience and talent. We are actively recruiting Board members to help provide governance and direction as we lead out organization into the future. Board members meet monthly as a team, and some board members are involved in sub-committees that may meet regularly as well. If you are interested in helping drive our mission and increasing our capacity to help more people, email us at

Client Advocacy
This team works with families who have applied for the Fix-It program.  This team manages the Fix-It administrative process. It evaluates applications from referring agencies, works as liaison to these agencies, makes phone calls to prospective clients to discuss processes and procedures, and generally ensures that our clients have an excellent experience with our organization from start to finish. If you want to help us help our neighbors, please contact us at

Site Evaluation
This team evaluates prospective jobs, including determining materials needed and price. This is a very important role for the Fix-It program. These evaluators enter our clients’ homes, evaluate scope, size and price of job. It is from this information we create pricing, and we need to make sure we are accurate here, for the sake of our neighbors in need. If you have construction and/or property management skills and experience, please email us at

Volunteer Relations
This team finds the right people for the right volunteer work. They set up times and places to work, whether in the office, at events, at the job site or at the outlet. They help team chairs fill holes and build solid, functioning teams. This team also maintains our volunteer database, tracks volunteer hours and sets criteria for volunteer recognition. Love people?
